10 Ways to Make Moving Fun for the Whole Family

Moving into a new home can be a fun and exciting time, but it can also be stressful on families. We put together 10 ways to make moving fun for the whole family!

1. Let the kids pack their own belongings, or pack with you, so they can feel like they are a part of the moving process. Let them label their own boxes with markers or stickers.

2. Take photos and videos throughout the moving process to document the experience. This will make it a fun memory that you can all look back on.

3. Visit the house before move in day to allow them get a feel for their new home and the neighborhood, so that way it’ll feel a bit more like home on moving day.

4. Plan something fun to get their minds off of what they may be leaving behind. Take the kids to an amusement park, or go to the beach for a few days to recharge and get the family ready to unpack and move into your new home. 

5. Throw a little goodbye party so that your children can say goodbye to any neighborhood or classroom friends they may be leaving behind. Keep it simple with a few snacks, and plan some fun activities that will let the children interact and say their goodbyes. Make sure to collect information so that they can keep in touch.

6. Take your kids to a few of their favorite places in town one last time, whether that’s a restaurant, a park, or their favorite toy store.

7. Find a local art studio and take your kids to paint a piece of ceramic or a blank canvas that they can hang up in their new bedroom. This will provide them with a sense of excitement and something to look forward to about their new space.

8. If need be, don’t be afraid to accept help from friends and family willing to watch the kids while you move. 

9. Unpack the kid’s rooms first – this will help to keep them calm and give them something to do while you unpack the remainder of the house.

10. Create a fun moving playlist, and have a dance party while you're unpacking!
