CPBJ Business Profiles: Landmark Homes

Customization for all is Landmark Homes’ philosophy

Nearly 20 years ago, brothers Cliff and Clair Weaver founded Landmark Homes on the philosophy that all of their clients deserved a custom home-building experience, no matter the size of their project or their budget.

Clair had worked in real estate, while Cliff worked with another home-building company. In 1998, they decided to combine their expertise to offer a process and product they saw a need for in the local community.

“Design elements and features that other builders consider options or extras are standard in our homes,” Clair Weaver said. The same goes for name-brand materials, spacious, open floor plans and personal attention.

The family-owned home designer and builder of new homes and communities offers apartment, single-family, townhome and 55-and-older low-maintenance communities in Cumberland, Dauphin, York, Lancaster, Lebanon and Berks counties.

A sales and building team with 24-hour accessibility via email, text or phone is assigned to each neighborhood to ensure satisfaction for those who choose to buy or build in a Landmark community.

Customers can choose a move-in-ready home, build in on a lot in one of the company’s communities, or create a custom house on their own land.

“It shouldn’t only be the people building million dollar homes who get some choices,” he said. Landmark has its own in-house design studio at its Ephrata office, so clients can select everything from doors to floors and carpet color and paint colors.

“It’s kind of a one-stop shop and it works out great,” Weaver said. “They can select everything right here.”

The design studio is often remodeled to feature the most current trends, including samples of materials for customers to see and touch. While most customers choose one of the more than 80 home-plan designs the company offers, they can tweak things to their liking.

“We listen to our customers and if they want to do unique things in their home, we are open to that,” Weaver said. “People come in with more ideas these days because of things they have seen online and on TV. We want to keep the process simple for them and make it a fun experience.”

Owner entries and foyers are a hot trend of late, according to Weaver. He said people want to come in and have a place to put their coat, electronics and other items without dragging them through the house. Laundry facilities are no longer relegated to basements, but typically placed on the same floor level as the master bedroom suite.

Weaver said Landmark’s customers appreciate that the company is part of the community where it works and has built a reputation over the years. “We have developed a well-thought-out process that results in a well-thought-out home,” he said.
